Help build HSLC’s social media presence!

The Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) is looking for an energetic Social Media Specialist (SMS) to develop and implement a social media strategy for our Facebook, Instagram, Meetup, Linkedin, and TikTok platforms. The SMS has the wonderful responsibility of growing our social media presence to reach and engage more animal lovers In HSLC’s life-saving mission.


Key responsibilities include:

Developing and driving content strategy for HSLC’s social media presence

Creating and curating HSLC’s social media content in support of that strategy

Monitoring social media activity on a daily basis and responding promptly and professionally to comments and questions

Keeping up to date on HSLC’s marketing priorities including fundraising, volunteer and foster recruitment, animal adoption, and special events

Keeping on top of digital and social media trends and leveraging them as appropriate

Adhering to HSLC’s brand guidelines and ensuring a professional presence across social media platforms

Informing HSLC’s overarching marketing strategy in partnership with HSLC’s marketing lead and other marketing volunteers.

The ideal candidate has the following:

Prior experience as a social media admin for a company, non-profit or community group

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer service orientation

High attention to detail

Ability to multi-task and hit deadlines

Strong planning and organizational skills

Ability to interpret analytics and use them to drive strategy
Proficient in Facebook and Instagram with a working knowledge of Meetup, LinkedIn, NextDoor, and TikTok

Basic proficiency in Canva or other design software

A love of animals

An updated resume

Bonus: Experience successfully recruiting volunteers, supporters, adopters, and/or fosters using social media for an animal rescue or shelter.
